By using their solubility in different solvents, how would you separate an organic mixture which consists of the following: Ph-OH, n-C8H17-COOH, n-C8H17-COOCH3 (I think the first step is to use water, because Ph-OH is soluble in water but the other two aren't. But how could the carboxylic acid be separated from the ester? NaOH? HCl? NaHCO3?)
