Does carbon 14 have two more neutrons then carbon 12 or two more electrons than carbon 12 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

neutrons. That way the charge is still neutral :-)

14 Neutrons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Carbon 14 has 6 protons and 8 neutrons in its nucleus, whereas carbon 12 has 6 protons and 6 neutrons. For a neutral atom, the number of electrons will equal the number of protons, and hence in both carbon 12 and carbon 14 there will be 6 electrons. So to answer your question, carbon 14 has two more neutrons than carbon 12.
