Simplify the Complex Fraction 1 over x-1 - 1 over x+1 Over 1 x^2-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[[1/ (x-2)] \over [(x-1)/(x ^{2}-1)]\] is that the correct fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If so, you would use the "same change flip" method and multiply by the recipricol of the denominator\[1/ (x-2) * (x ^{2}-1)/ (x-1)\] if you factor x^2-1 into (x+1)(x-1) you can cancel the (x-1) in the denominator with the one in the numerator. the final fraction you should end up with would then be \[(x+1) \over (x-2)\]
