what is tangential acceleration
Imagine a curve with its gradient constantly changing. The gradient at the exact point you want is called a tangent( and the line perpendicular to it is called a normal). Tangential acceleration acceleration would be the acceleration along the tangent at that point of a particle that is in constantly changing motion.

Tangential acc. is the component of the total acceleration vector that is responsible for the change in the magnitude of the velocity vector. Since the magnitude of the velocity vector doesn't change in uniform circular motion, the tangential component is zero and acc.total=acc.centripital (acc.centripital causes a change in the direction of the velocity vector).
