I have been working on this for a half hour with no luck so any help would be appreciated! A manufacturer is designing special packaging for a product in the shape of a truncated pyramid. A truncated pyramid is a pyramid with the top cut off. The model he is building is shown in the figure with the measurements. The bases are not regular figures. The lateral sides are trapezoids. The height of each trapezoidal face is 12 cm. Determine the amount of material needed to build the model (assuming no overlap on the sides). here is the photo: http://imageshack.us/content_round.php?page=done&l=img
bad link
yea
sorry don't know why it cut it off
better, now i gotta remember what the question is :)
surface area right?
you have 2 trianlges to areate; and 3 sides
the face height is 12 ...
sorry don't know why it cut it off
yes it is asking for the surface area
the area of a side is the average of the bases times face height
(3+6)/2 = 9 9*12 = 108 for the surface area, but thats from memory and could be wrong
i got 156
is that right?
actually nvm one more calc i forgot
246
if that's not is sorry i dont know
its says the surface area of a regular pyramid is SA=(1.2)pl where p is the perimeter of the base and l is the slant height
sorry Sa=(1.2)pl+B where B is the area of the base
i got that by bottom (24) top (6) front (90) +right side back (72) and left side back 54
your bases are 3,4, 5 and 6,8,10 ------- (9,12,15) 12 = (108,144, 180)/2 = 54 + 72 + 90 54 + 72 + 90 ---- 216 for the sides
Such a big question!!
plus the area of the triangles; 3*4 = 12/2 = 6 6*8 = 48/2 = 24 ---- 30 216 30 ----- 246
HA! i got it first
you did, but im impressed that i got it at all ;)
lol nah u are legend
lol guys fighting for who came first!!
I DID!! lol
thats what I got too but I felt like maybe it was wrong without the slant height but I didn't know what to do
face height is what was important i think; without that it would have been trickier
ok cool I'll go with it
