You need to dissolve CaCl2 in water to make a mixture that is 40.0% calcium chloride by mass. If the total mass of the mixture is 370.9g, what masses of CaCl2 and water should be used?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find the CaCl_2 you need to apply the percentage to the total mass: \[\frac{40\%}{100\%}*370.9g=148.4g\] For the Water it is the remainder or 60%: \[\frac{60\%}{100\%}*370.9g=222.5g\]
