If a cannon fires a shell at 700m/s, find it's range , time in flight, and maximum vertical height at 45 degress
Your initial velocity is 700m/s at a 45 degree angle. Break up your initial velocity into x and y compenents. 700*cos(45) = initial x velocity = 350m/s AND 700*sin(45) = initial y velocity = 350m/s You know that when the cannon reaches maximum height its y velocity will be 0 and because it is in the y direction your acceleration is g. Knowing this you can solve for the time, solving for t gives you half the total flight time so multiple it by 2. Mas?
oops I didnt have a calc with me but make sure you actually calculate 700*cos(45) because it is not 350
if u dont like breaking into x and y comp. then use the common formula for range of a projectile (see fig below) |dw:1317324071452:dw| for time of flight use distance/spped =time. ie range(R)/speed in x(=700cos45) = time of flight..
