5 xxpuresublimexx Lifesaver with one method of acceptance sampling, a sample of items is randomly selected without replacement from a batch of items. the entire batch is rejected if there is atleast one defect in the sample. a company produced 1800 vitamins on a certain day. due to size restrictions, 7% of the vitamins are unacceptable. if 6 of the vitamins were selected and tested, what is the probability that the entire batch will be rejected?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1800(.07) = defect = 126 1800(.93) = good = 1674 Total = 1800, and if we get 1 out of 6 the batch is rejected. If im right in my thinking its a hypergeometric distribution and might go something like this (126 C 1)*(1674 C 5) ------------------ (1800 C 6)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

126 * 108892844529084 ------------------------- = .2929 4.68467774787327×10^16 but i make no claims for its correctness :)
