The following velocity-time graphs are for various objects that move in a straight line and start at the origin In each case find, as a function of time, t: i) the velocity ii) the acceleration iii) the displacement of the object described.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

velocity - time graph

OpenStudy (alfie):

The velocity is\[\frac{x}{t}\] acceleration is either the derivative of the instantaneous velocity., either v/t , the displacement is the final position minus the initial position.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i work out the constants for velocity?

OpenStudy (alfie):

You have two given points, the first one says that at time t = 0 you have a velocity of -2, and that at t= 4 you have a velocity of 22 (Probably meters/second). Now, that v = at^2 + b is a function that describes the given motion, and it is a parabula. You have the final and initial velocity and time, check out the formulas on your book, what could you get with these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well b = the y intercept i think. then you use the point (4,22) to find a. and i got the right asnswer thanks:)

OpenStudy (alfie):

You are welcome, great job doing it with your own brain :)

can you help me out with iii) I'm getting the wrong answer:(
