I think this is what you mean, Let the three appointments be A, B and C. So, all possible combinations are, A B C C B A A C B B C A C A B B A C So the answer is 6.

Okay that looks good but is there any other way of figuring it out without trying to write all the combination.

I think, you could go like this, to find the combination since there is no order. Since there are 3 things, it should be 3! = 3 X2X1 = 6.
