x has a normal distribution with a mean of 80.0 and a standard deviation of 4.0. Find the following probabilities:
(A) P(x <79.0)
(B) P(78.0 86.0)
Here is my work so far, I am not sure if you can have a negative probability, can you?:
mean=80.0
standard deviation=4.0
(A)
P(x<79.0)
79.0-80.0/4.0
-1/4.0
-0.25
P(x<79.0)=P(z<-0.25)
=0.0987-5.000=-0.4013
(B)
P(78.086.0)
z=x-mean/stan dev
z=86.0-80.0/4.0=6/4.0=1.5
P(x>86.0)=P(z>1.5)
=0.4332+0.5000=0.9332
