why is helium a noble gas ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

helium is a noble gas because it has a full outer shell (the 1st shell always contains 2 electrons)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

den we can also say Be is also noble gas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it has full outer shell, and it does not react easily with other element, uncreative.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And one of the characteristics of Noble gases are that they do not form compounds very easily.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it means Be i also said to be noble gas on the basis of outermost shell is full....??????????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Be is not a Noble gas, because Be is in group two, meaning it has two electrons in the outer most shell. But, it has two shells. in the first shell you can only have two electrons, in the second shell, not orbital, you can have 8 electrons. This means that Be is not a Noble gas. If you still do not understand, reply back and I will go deeper into it.
