: Linear Algebra: (Diagonalization) Let matrix A = {{2,1},{-2,-1}}. Find a matrix B such that B^2 = A. p.s. Someone already convinced me that A^2 = A, but I'm not sure if the problem asks for a different matrix B that would have the same property. Is there such a matrix B?

Clarification: A = \[\left[\begin{matrix}2 & 1 \\ -2 & -1\end{matrix}\right]\]
