OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

lol, c'mon guys! speed up!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{5x}+29=x+3\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sqrt 5x = x - 26 5x = x^2 -52x + 676 0 = x^2 - 57x + 676 x = -40.17, -16.82

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your did the squre root where did your +- go to =]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Should be 40.17, 16.82

OpenStudy (mertsj):

square both sides and get 5x+9 = x^2+6x+9 Set equal to 0: x^2+x-20=0 Factor: (x+5)(x-4)=0 x=-5,x=4 Check both answers since squaring sometimes introduces an extraneous root. -5 does not check so the answer is x = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm wolfram alpha doesn't have 16.82 for some reason

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40.17 is on there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But you should get two answers though from quadratic equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wonder why because it should have 2 o well i'm guessing moneybird is correct
