The comparison of the number of atoms in a copper coin the size of a penny with the number of people on Earth is made to illustrate which of the following? (1 point) that atoms are indivisible that atoms are very small that atoms are very large that in a copper penny, there is one atom for every person on Earth

OpenStudy (kainui):

That atoms are indivisible? Nope, because this relationship doesn't make any sense, why involve the coin when you could simply compare one person to an atom? That atoms are very small? Yeah, because if we can compare the large number of people on the earth to the amount of atoms in a coin, then the atoms must be incredibly tiny to fit all in that little coin! That in a copper penny, there is one atom for every person on Earth? No, because there's really no direct connection between the two to make any sense out of this. I hope that gives you some of the reasoning behind why the right answer is what it is.
