The state of water is determined solely by the conditions of pressure and temperature. Is this True or False?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thinks it's true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey I have another question

OpenStudy (espex):

It is true.

OpenStudy (espex):

What is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, thanks If temperature is held constant for an ideal gas, as P and V change for a given gas sample, the PV products will be constant. I think it is true also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it's false

OpenStudy (espex):

Correct, it is false.

OpenStudy (espex):

As you increase your pressure, the volume decreases.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have some time to help me, with a couple of more.

OpenStudy (espex):

I am actually writing a paper for lecture tomorrow but I can take a look at what you have.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do not know what the heck this is talking about.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks Sir... do you teach at a college?

OpenStudy (espex):

I am a student in college actually.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Going back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey I have another question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"If temperature is held constant for an ideal gas, as P and V change for a given gas sample, the PV products will be constant. I think it is true also" PV = nRT The only reason this could be false is if the amount of gas (n) is allowed to change. If n were held constant, then you would have PV = constant*constant*constant, so PV would be constant. It says "given gas sample" which I think means n is constant, making it true.
