Who can help me to explain why cyclodecene can exist in both cis and trans forms, but cyclohexene cannot.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cyclohexane has only 120 degree angles, but cyclodecene has 120 and 240 degree angles. If the double bond falls on the 240 degree angle, it will be trans.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why cyclodecene has 120 and 240 degree angles? not just 240 degree angles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but as your explain, cyclodecene cannot form cis forms, oppositing to the problem itself.
