A game is played by throwing a fair dice until either a six is obtained or four throws have been made. The number of sixes obtained in the game is denoted by Y. Find EY (or the mean of the frequencies ~ Expectation in statistics)
ey=1/2 for 6 and 1/3 for 4?
Nope. This is under Varience and standard deviation and Expectation... so there are a lot more steps involved.. It's not easy. So if anyone knows how to solve this... I'll be very greatful. Thanks for trying though :) But It's not as straightforward as that.
but it also has to do with how many dice r being played
Only one set of dice, rolled numerous amounts of times... It also has to do with Geographic & binomial distribution... All 4 things combined... not easy
I mean one die
wat type of math is this?
It's statistics 1 for A-levels
oh probability?
yup, and measures of spread.
wouldnt it be division to find out how many times thrown to the actual number
Nope.. It'll be to find the distribution of Y (the hard part) and then to get the expectation, which is much easier.
