a pendulum of 2kg mass is attached to one end of a string of length 1.2m. The bob moves in a horizontal circle in such a way that the string is inclined at 30 degrees to the vertical.Calculate (A) the tension in the string; (B) the period of motion.assume g=10m/s^2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

t*cos(theta) = mg t = mg2/sqrt3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

time period might be \[\frac{2\pi}{\sqrt{g\cot \theta}}\sqrt{r}\] \interesting result btw...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

r is for the radius of the circle which is l*cos (theta) note theta for the time period is the angel which the string makes with horizontal i.e 90 - 60 = 30
