OpenStudy (anonymous):

the molality is temp independent whereas molarity is temp dependent. justify.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

liquid expands with temperature

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did't quite get that. how is it relevant to the question? please explain

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

molarity is the amount of solvent per unit volume while molality is amount of solute per mass of solvent molarity will change because the volume of the solvent increases with temperature

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

if your liquid is hot less will fit into the unit box

OpenStudy (anonymous):

However hot a substance is its weight will be same, but it expands decreasing volume, molality depends on weight whereas molarity depends on volume hence molarity changes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To put it simply mass of material is constant no matter what temperature. Where as volume can get smaller when it is cold or larger when it is hot.

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

mass of material is independent of temperature !!!!! and volume is dependent on temperature!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume is temperature-dependent. which has to do with molarity. while moality is not temp dependent
