I need help in finding the values of A,B and C in this identity. thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x^{4} - 13x^{3}+19x ^{2}+5x+1=(x-4)(Ax+1)(x ^{2}+Bx+1)+C\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the first step is to substitue x=4 and i will find C=5. but i don't know how to continue from here.. help please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=2,b=-3,c=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, but could you tell me how did you get a and b? :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

once you get the value of c then subtract it from the original expression and divide it with x-4 and then you get a cubic expression in it compare the coefficients of different powers of x so as to get the values of A an dB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey but i thought we have to keep substituting the value of x to get A and eventually B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is easier to compare than to substitute for here you will have to employ substitution of variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you want steps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay sure :)
