okay, that's what i thought. and for yz-plane, it would be the distance from (0, 7, -5), etc?

seems like just the 3D pythagrean will suffice

as here for xy -plan so for z- axis its value is " 0 ".

How about:
CALCULUS: Find the distance from (3, 7, -5) to the upside-down paraboloid given by $$z = -\frac{1}{12}(x^2+y^2)$$
