Calculus: Find the distance from (3, 7, -5) to the xy-plane

Geometry: draw a pretty picture and go straight up in the z-direction from (3,7,-5) to (3,7,0) where you enter the xy-plane.
okay, that's what i thought. and for yz-plane, it would be the distance from (0, 7, -5), etc?
how is this calculus? seems like just the 3D pythagrean will suffice
exactly. more interesting is to find distance to the plane 2x+3y+4z=1 or whatever
it's pretty much refresher stuff that i haven't learned in years

as here for xy -plan so for z- axis its value is " 0 ".
& now use distance formula for two point form.....
How about: CALCULUS: Find the distance from (3, 7, -5) to the upside-down paraboloid given by \[z = -\frac{1}{12}(x^2+y^2)\]
