if a bass has a length of x inches, where x is between 20 and 25 inches, its weight can be estimated by the formula W(x)=0.96x-14.4. a)what length of bass weighs 6.8 pounds? b)what lengths of bass weigh less than 6.8 pounds? i dont even know where to start...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur answers must be between 20 and 25 W(x)=mass="pounds"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still dont know where to start ive tried putting those values in the equation for x but the answers i get are unrealistic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur given the mass 6.8 ur equation W(x)=0.96x-14.4 since W(x) = mass when x value is used so 6.8=0.96x-14.4 solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i got 22.1. i think what i was doing wrong was putting the x value in for both x's in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its too late at night i need some sleep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the second part of the question would be any fish with a length "less than " 22.1 weigh less than 6.8 pounds, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes =D goodnight

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks soooo much
