A metal rod is 25.000cm long at 25.0 degrees Celsius. When heated to 102.0 degrees Celsius, it is 25.054 cm long. What is the coefficient of linear expansion for this metal?

OpenStudy (turingtest):

\[\large\alpha_L=\frac1L\frac{dL}{dT}\approx\frac1L\frac{\Delta L}{\Delta T}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well.. I think that's a bad reply. L is the Length.. dL/dT is rate of change of unit length per change in unit temp. alpha would be your coeffiecient.. 1/25cm * (25.054-25.0)/(102.0-25.0) You said Rod.. Hot Rod..
