Rotational Motion Problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Go on....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Angle of the inclination of the wedge \(\theta\), spring constant is \(k\), mass of the cylinder is \(m\) and its radius is \(r\). The surface is rough and the cylinder rolls without slipping. We have to find the maximum possible elongation of the spring.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

If this Is a statics problem, then equilibrium is achieved when the spring force equals the downward component of the weight, \[kx=mg\ \sin(\theta)\]so\[x=\frac{mg}{k}\sin(\theta)\]

hmm nope that isn't the answer
