THE SOLUBILITY PRODUCT VALUE FOR THE SALTS ARE CUS =1.10-8 Hgs=1.10-15 Pbs=1.10-20 which one precipitate first on passing H2S GAS

OpenStudy (jfraser):

PbS will precipitate first, since it has the smallest KSP value.

if you explain briefly .i will be very thankfull.jfraser

OpenStudy (jfraser):

The KSP depends on the concentration of the ions that are in solution, specifically, their products\[K{_S}{_P} = [M+][NM-]\] where M and NM are the metal and nonmetal ions that make up the solution. Since each formula has a 1:1 ratio of its ions, their concentrations will be equal. The KSP gives a way to find the maximum allowable concentrations of the ions that will be present in solution before a precipitate forms. Since PbS has the smallest KSP, it's concentrations will be the smallest:\[K{_S}{_P} = [Pb{^+}{^2}]*[S{^-}{^2}] = 1.10x10{^-}{^2}{^0}\]The other salts will have larger concentrations of ions present before precipitation occurs
