Can someone show me how to do this? Find the inverse of {(3, 2), (4,2)} and tell whether its a function.
Just reverse the x and y values in the ordered pairs. Then check if any of the ordered pairs have the same first number. If they do, it's not a function.
so all you need to do is reverse x and y? what will happen if you have 3 ordered pairs? would you do the same?
Yep. You would do the same. Is the inverse a function or not?
yea..i dont know how to determine whether its a function or not..do you mind explaining?
Did you read what I wrote in my first post?
OHHHH...OKAY i understand..so its not a fucntion
Right. The inverse is NOT a function.
At least in this case. Sometimes it will be.
because 2 is repeated..
does this rule apply to all functions?
Yes. The 2 is paired with more than 1 y value
Absolutely. learn these lessons about functions well because you will be involved with functions for as long as you study math.
okay..thanks you really cleared up the functions for me :D
yw. isn't learning fun!!!
it sure is!!
