A rocket is launched from ground level with an initial vertical velocity (v0) of 176 ft/s. After how many seconds will the rocket hit the ground? (Hint: h(t) = -16t2 + v0t + h0). please explain.

\[h_0=0\] since the initial heigh of the rocket is 0
\[v_0=176\] since you are told the initial velocity.
therefore your equation is \[h(t)=-16t^2+176t\] and you want to know when this is zero, because when it hits the ground the height is 0 feet
\[-16t^2+176t=0\] \[-16 (t-11) t = 0\] \[t=0,t=11\]
so eleven seconds it will hit the ground
