Find the area of the triangle with verticies A(-2,3), B(15,3) and C(3,6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The height of the 6-3=3 because A and B lie on the same horizontal line. The base is AB which is 17; you can use the distance formula if you like, but A and B are on the same line. \[d=\sqrt{(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2}\] \[AB=\sqrt{(15+2)^2+(0)^2}=\sqrt{17^2}=17\] You now have the base and height, solve for the area of the triangle.
