How do I name these molecular compounds? (All numbers are small on bottom) CCl4 CO P2O5 SF6 N2O3 P4O10 C3H6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Carbon Tetrachloride Carbon Monoxide Phosphorous Pentaoxide Sulfur Hexa Flouride Di Nitrogen Tri Oxide Phosphorous Pentaoxide Benzene

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that may give the names, but does it tell how to get the names?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the formulas and names are now clear... the prefixes, and meanings. 1=Mono; 2=di; 3=tri; 4=tetra; 5=penta; 6=hex; 7=hepta; 8=octo use the subscript to find the proper prefix. Hydrocarbons have their own rules which I'm not to sure on.

what about... C\[C _{2}H _{4}\] SO3 OCl2 Co2 ICl CS2 NBR3 SI3 SeCl2 H20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C3H6 isn't benzene its propene.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C2H4-ethane Sulphur trioxide Oxygen dichloride( Not sure about this one). Iodine chloride Carbon disulphide Nitrgoen tribromide Sulphur tri iodide Selenium dichloride
