when a clear colorless liquid is heated, the temperature rises until it reaches 45 degree Celsius , and then the temperature remains constant while the liquid boils. after a few minute, the liquid stops boiling and temperature begins to rise. At 75.0 degree celsius, the liquid begins to boil again. was the original liquid an element , compound, heterogeneous mixture , or solution? Explain your reasoning

ANY BODY?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

it can't have been an element or compound, or it would have had only 1 boiling point. It can't be a heterogeneous mixture, since it didn't have 2 distinct phases or pieces. It has to be a solution made of 2 clear liquids. One liquid boiled at 45C, the second boiled at 75C.
