ok im back with a similar problem...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is where???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if f(x)=8x^3 then f(x+h)-f(x)/h = Ax^2+Bxh+Ch^2 Find constants A, B, and C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the steps to this thanks to asnaseer, but what do i do when i get 8(x+h)^3 - 8x^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i put it in the (a+b)(a-b) form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be (8x+h +8x)(8x+h-8x) ???

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its a cubic so i dont think we get to make it into a quadratic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do we do here then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im gonna go take a shower. be back in a bit.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1 3 3 1 x^3 x^2 x h h^2 h^3 -------------------\[x^3+3x^2h+3xh^2+h^3\] is our results; *8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sooo \[\frac{\cancel{8x^3}+24x^2h+24xh^2+8h^3 \cancel{- 8x^3}}{h}\] \[\frac{\cancel{h}(24x^2+24xh+8h^2) }{\cancel{h}}\] \[24x^2+24xh+8h^2=other.stuff\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and from that you should be able to compare coeefs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you start it all off? could you explain in words
