Determine the ions in the ionic compound formed by potassium and sulfur.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

since potassium is in group 1, it will form an ion with +1 charge. Sulfur is in group 16, so it will form an ion with -2 charge.\[K^{+1} S^{-2}\] the proper ionic compound between the 2 of them will have the same total sum of positive and negative charges. This means there have to be 2 potassium ions for every sulfur ion \[K_{2}S\]
