a camping stove, burning butane, was used to heat 500g of water from 20 C until it was boiling. heating this amount of water from 20 C to boiling with an electrical heater requires 168 kJ of energy

Whats the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, if the pot was made out of aluminum and it weighed 100 g, how much heat energy was required to heat the pot (specific heat capacity of aluminum is 875 J kg-1 K-1)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now you are heating water + aluminium from 20 to 100 degree Heat required by aluminium= mCT=0.1*875*80=7000J=7kJ. The other data are irrelevant.

i ended up getting it, but thank you :)
