Why do molecular substances with strong intermolecular forces have high melting points?

OpenStudy (kainui):

Consider what a high melting point is. It's a point where molecules in a solid are moving so fast that they break their bonds to nearby molecules and slide past each other. So the tighter they hold onto each other, the more force it'll take to break them apart.
