OpenStudy (anonymous):

15x^3-20x^2-7x+23)/(3x-1) Divisor | | 5x^2-5x-4 < ------ Equation v ______________________ (3x-1) | 15x^3-20x^2-7x+23) 15x^3-5x^2 -multiply bottom row (-1) ----------- -Add- "Taking Difference" 0x^3-15x^2 -15x^2+5x -multiply bottom row (-1) ---------- -Add- "Taking Difference" 0x^2-12x+23 -12x+4 -multiply bottom row (-1) -------- -Add- "Taking Difference" 0x+19 <---Remainder 5x^2-5x-4 + 19/(3x-1) = Equation + Remaind/Divisor

Is it still over 3x-1? isnt 19 the remainder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes the remainder goes over the divisor. I don't know how to make fraction symbols on here. It will be that new equation on top plus the remainder divided by the original divisor.
