11 Vector s =(3.20 m)i -(3.70 m) j+ (2.80 m)k describes the rectilinear displacement of a body. A constant value force F =(6.70 N)i -(8.30 N)j +(4.30 N)k is applied to the body during its motion. Calculate the work done by the force during the movement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

assumng you know about dot products of vectors work done = F . x so W= 64.19 J

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21.44 + 30.71 + 12.04 = 64.19 j

How have u got that, please show me and let me learn from this example

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone show me the procedure for getting that answer please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the dot product involves the multiplication of the coefficients of each unit vector from both physicsl quantities and adding them together ,so in this question it is like (32.*6.7 + -3.7* -8.3 +2.8* 4.3) . This is the case if the vector is given in the components form . If given as magnitudes then it is the product of magnitudes and cosine of angle between vectors
