Can someone please explain how to work this out? All ammonium salts on heating with sodium hydroxide produce ammonia gas. From which ammonium salt can the greatest mass of ammonia be achieved? (a) 0.5mol (NH4)3PO4 (b)0.5mol (NH4)2SO4 (c)1.0mol NH4Cl (d)1.0mol NH4NO3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(a) 0.5mol (NH4)3PO4

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how did you find it out? :O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.5 mole of (NH4)3PO4 have 1.5 mole of NH3...... thats why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Still did not get it. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(NH4)3PO4 ---> 3NH3 + H3PO4 0.5 3*0.5 + 0.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes saddique is right..0.5 mol ammonium phosphate gives 1.5 mole ammonia....write teh balanced eqaion for all....
