Two objects exert a gravitational force of 3 N on one another when they are 10 m apart. What would that force be if the distance between the two objects were reduced to 5 m? A. 1.5 N B. 6 N C. 12 N D. 24 N

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it B?

OpenStudy (espex):

Gravitational force is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between the two masses. So from 10m to 5m is a reduction of 1/2, the inverse is 2, squared is 4. So 4 times the original force of 3N is 12N.

And this is actually a physics question, not chem.

Thank you so much for helping me...sorry..I didn't realize it toward now that it is physics...sorry..sorry!

OpenStudy (espex):

You're welcome. :)

If you don't mind, can you also help me on the other question? Please!
