Chlorine reacts with both hydrogen and sodium to form hydrogen chloride and sodium chloride respectively. Hydrogen chloride has a melting point of -114 degree celcius, whereas sodium chloride has a melting point of 801 degree celcius. the question: Explain why the melting point of these two compounds are so different.
