Write the name for the following compounds: CO2 CO N2O5 BF3 I'm pretty sure CO2 is carbon dioxide, CO is carbon oxide, N2O5 is nitrogen oxide, and BF5 is baron and florine but I'm not sure how to express this is the correct way.

carbon di oxide carbon mono oxide dinitrogen penta oxide boron tri fluoride What problem u r facing in order to represent these names ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You use this system of naming (with the mono-, di-, tri- etc. prefixes) when the substance you are naming is made of two or more nonmetals.

I just wasn't sure if I was adding the prefixes correctly, I wanted to be certain that I was doing it right. :) thank you!
