Derivative question: Give that f(x)=x^8h(x) h(-1)=4 h(-1)=7 Calculate f'(-1)= ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is h(x) supposed to be another function? cuz it is returning two values for the same X, which is not applicable for fuctions

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

I think he made a typo, one should be h'(-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes sorry...for the typo

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

anyways, use this to solve: f'(x) = 8x^7 * h(x) + h'(x)*x^8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, that is better then! chain rule rules

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so just plug in (4) and (7) after chain rule right?

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

ye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f'(x)= 8x^7 f'(-1)=8(-1)^7
