You know that an unlabeled water bottle contains at least some water. You measure the freezing point of the unknown substance and find that it freezes at a temperature lower than 0 degrees Celsius at 1 atmosphere pressure. Which of the following can you conclude? The substance is pure water. The substance will have a boiling point that is less than 100 degrees Celsius. The substance will have a vapor pressure that is greater than that of pure water. The substance is an aqueous solution.

2nd option...... just a guess...

OpenStudy (jfraser):

cant' be pure water, or it would freeze at 0C. The next 2 are colligative properties that depend on the amount of stuff dissolved in the water. Both those options are incorrect based on what solutions do compared to pure solvents. Solutions boil at higher than normal temps, and have vapor pressures lower than their pure solvents, because of the added IMFs that the solute molecules create. The only other option is that the water is actually an aqueous solution
