what does henrys law state??

explain anybody

OpenStudy (mos1635):

At a constant temperature, the amount of a given gas that dissolves in a given type and volume of liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with that liquid.

The law states that, at a constant temperature, the amount of a gas dissolved in a liquid depends on the partial pressure of that gas in equilibrium with the liquid. If you look up Wikipedia they give a good example of the law in practical terms: a carbonated drink contains CO2 to give fizz but if you open the can the pressure drops and some of the gas comes out as bubbles (ie it is no longer in solution in the liquid).
