A 5*10^(-6) C particle moves through a region containing the uniform magnetic field <-20mT,0,0> and the uniform electric field <0,300V/m,0>. At a certain instance the velocity of the particle is <17,-11,7)km/s. At that instant and in unit-vector notation, what is the net electromagnetic force on the particle? (Answer = <0,.8,-1.1>mN)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here is what I do to get the answer: F = qvxB + qE F = q(<17000,-11000,7000>X<-.02,0,0> + <0,300,0>) = <0,.0022, -.0011>N...don't know where I'm going wrong.

OpenStudy (experimentx):

F = eE +eb*(cross).v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I have that already...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooh you're saying it's BcrossV instead of VcrossB? Strange, my formula says VcrossB

OpenStudy (experimentx):

I must be confused one then ... I haven't used that formula in for long time.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then what am I doin wrong?
