The volume of chlorine gas at 400 mmHg is decreased to 200 mL at constant temperature. What is the new gas pressure?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a) 800 mm Hg b) 650 mm Hg c) 600 mm Hg d) 400 mm Hg

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

PV = nRT so, P1V1=P2V2 (since n, R and T are constants) now apply, enjoy and then "eat rainbows' !! :D

@apoorvk My chemistry is a bit rusty, so I'm curious to know - how would you go about solving this problem since it appears V1 is not given? Unless I am mistaken.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Aaha. no. your chem is not rusty, this problem has missing data. you need initial data. didnt't notice that earlier.

Ah I see. Thanks!
