. A projectile is fired 20 degrees with 2m/s initial horizontal speed and strikes the floor at a horizontal distance of 1.80 meters away from where it was fired. Determine the time it takes for the projectile to strike the floor.

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

S=ut where, S is horizontal distance u is horizontal speed t is time taken you have values of S and u. and you need "t" .. so carry on...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer is 0.90s?

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

well it is the answer if you are sure that initial "horizontal" speed is 2m/s.. if its just the speed.. you have to calculate the horizontal component of that speed at first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do i plug in 0.90 back into the equation S=ut? Therefore making the answer 1.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

marian the projectile is launched at an angle of 20 degrees. |dw:1334811879444:dw|Using the rules of trig, what is the horizontal component of the velocity (the x component)?
