I just need to confirm my answer: A metal forms a sulphate whose formula is M2SO4. The mass of 1 mole of this sulphate is 118g. What is the relative atomic mass of M? a)11 b)14 c)22 d)28 Is the answer A? Or is it C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure you got the chemical formula right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. It's \[M _{2}SO _{4}\].

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You sure? I worked out A as well but the book says it's C. So I was confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i didn't remember a M on the peroidic table so i added up a sulfer and 4 oxegen for 96. I subtracted that from 118-96=22, then divided that by 2 for 11. So i'm still a little confused about this M atom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did the same. I guess there's some flaw with the question then.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea it caught me as a mistake sorry about that

Thank you anyway!
