Jennifer used a compass and found that the measure of angle QPR is the same as the measure of angle MLN, and that the measure of angle PQR is the same as the measure of angle LMN in the triangles shown below. Using complete sentences, describe the next steps required to prove that triangle PQR is congruent to triangle LMN.
Well, you need to show one of these QP=ML, or PR=LN, or QR=MN. Meaning the lengths are the same.
then what?
Well, how would you determine that two lengths are the same?
i need step by step explanation because im horrible at this. you dont have to give me the answer exactly
Let's just use PR and LN for this. Basically, you need to measure the length of PR using a compass and straightedge, and then check that it's equal to the length of LN.
Now, do you know how to measure the length of a line segment using a compass and straightedge?
based on what you said?
Just in general. Have you learned how to measure lengths?
yea I have just forgotten its fuzzy. So is that just the beginning to the answer or would that suffice?
That would be the beginning. Once you've measured the length, compare it to the length of LN. If those are the same, then the triangles are congruent.
and thats all i need to put? i kind of get what your saying
The process for measuring and comparing lengths would be something like this: Place the compass on point P, and open it until the other point of the compass rests on point R. Keeping the compass width fixed, move the compass so that it rests on point L. If the opposite end of the compass also rests on point N, then the length of PR is equal to the length of LN.
On an unrelated note, if you would like to call for my help in the future, please tag me in the post by typing @KingGeorge instead of messaging me please. :)
ok im sorry so is it ok if i just put what you said above for the answer??
np :P Ideally, you would write what I put in your own words, rather than just copying what I wrote. Also, you'll need another sentence or two explaining why that means the triangles are congruent.
