What happens to the salinity of water when it ices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it increases. The salt isn't inside of the ice, only the liquid water. so as some of the water freezes, the rest of the liquid water has a higher concentration of salt.

@FlyersMania14 -Should't it be decreasing ? Since the salts would cease out and wont convert into ice? *confused*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's asking about the salinity of the water, not the ice. the H2O that's inside the ice doesnt have salt with it but the rest of the H2O that isn't frozen is now part of a solution with more salt per H2O.
